The week is shifting where robotaxis already run
Gridwise found human drivers completed about 5.3% fewer trips per hour in five AV-active cities in Q4 2025, versus a national drop of 2.6%. Its 2025 medians before gas were Spark $21.74, Uber $21.18, and Lyft $19.48. $30 is peak / top-decile, not typical.
Nashville is already hiring the next shift
Business Insider reported former Lyft drivers in Nashville cleaning, charging, and inspecting Waymos. Lyft’s Flexdrive unit is opening an 80,000-square-foot depot with about 70 full-time jobs; about half hired so far used to drive for Lyft. The work is real, but a tour is not an offer letter.
Flexdrive says AVs cannot clean, charge, or repair themselves. Seventy jobs do not replace a city’s drivers; this is job redesign, not a fantasy swap.
The screen is still human
Waymo says its service does not rely on remote drivers; about 70 Remote Assistance agents are on duty worldwide at a time. Humans are moving from the seat toward the depot, wrench, and screen. Use the bridge while it is up.
