Gigs

My strategy

Back on Driving In Style, I used to show people how to make $2,000 a week on gig apps. Here’s how I did it.

I signed up for about 20 apps, about 12 accepted me, and I only use 5. It’s long days, 7 days a week, but it’s all based on a GOAL, not just making money, and that GOAL keeps me motivated every day.

My day starts at 5am and I hit the road by 6am. Early morning it’s airport runs and people going to work, and I take almost everything because there’s no traffic till about 7:30am. After 7:30am I stick to short local trips until rush hour passes, plus catering orders from my other apps if they’re $50 or more. I take a break at about 2pm with about $100 to $150 in profit, then come back at 5pm for the PM shift till 10pm, same strategy: accept all rides unless they just don’t make sense, like a 3 hour ride to another city. That’s my routine, so choose apps that make sense and stick to a routine you make up. My strategy does not work unless I’m driving a TESLA, electricity is cheap and maintenance is almost zero. Results will vary depending on your state.

My real weekly Uber and Lyft screens. Gross, before gas and expenses.

I do a Polyphasic sleep schedule to sleep less and work more, it’s working for me but takes dedication, so have a GOAL or it will feel like a dead end and like working yourself to death.

Your results will vary. Pay depends on your city, your hours, and each app, and gross pay isn’t take-home.
